∞ 2013 ∞

{click here to see the rest of my 2013 moodboard!}

Going back into what the essence of this blog is all about: style moodboards (hence the name), I thought what better way to record my New Year's resolutions than to create a visual collage of my dreams + goals for the upcoming year. Especially when reflecting upon my last moodboard (which was published on IFB!), I now know for a fact that "to see it is to believe it."

Some of the highlights of 2012 were investing in a DSLR camera and being able to inspire others with my vision and photography, keeping my head held high and smiling through difficult times and of course, having this little, near and dear place in the World Wide Web to share my passion of fashion/writing/design and continuing to grow as an individual. Thank you for being on this journey with me.

With 2013 only a mere few hours away, I can't help but feel excited about a brand new start. It seems like that with every passing year and making these resolutions, it'd be easier to pinpoint exactly what I want to achieve, but it's not. I think it's super important to set SMART goals for yourself, but at the same time not so specific that you only have this one mindset: everyday is a new adventure and anything can happen.

Having said that, my focus (in no particular order) for 2013 is to:

+ see the beauty in everything
+ save up on big investments I truly love
+ create more DIYs
+ surround myself with positivity
+ experiment with my style
+ hone my writing skills
+ do yoga
+ bake
+ get lost reading a book
+ celebrate achievements, no matter how small
+ explore the city
+ get back to creating fashion sketches
+ eat healthy
+ say yes to new things and people
+ stay fit
+ continue to develop the blog and reach a larger audience
+ dare to be different
+ let go

Here's to a prosperous, healthy and happy twenty thirteen!

XO, Linda

Cardigan H&M, Circle Scarf H&M, Top Forever21, Jeans Urban Outfitters, Boots Sperry Top-Sider

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday enjoying good food in the company of family, friends and loved ones. We all can't forget about what comes after though: Black Friday! It's funny how I always come back home exhausted after a straight all-nighter spent shopping the stores' biggest deals and I tell myself that next year I am definitely going to spend Black Friday at home, but the excitement always never fails to lure me in.

November is one of my favorite months because the weather is brisk but not freezing, at least here in San Francisco. To accommodate the weather, this outfit has been one of my go-to's lately just because it's not too bulky yet combines warmth with light layers.

P.S: You can now follow me on Instagram @lindalquach where I've documented my Black Friday experience! :-)

Chambray Shirt Zara (similar here), Shirt Dress Papaya, Tights Forever21, Ankle Boots Naturalizer, Hobo Bag Coach

I've been wanting to purchase a chambray shirt for a while now, but I never could find one in a color and cut that I truly loved. But when I spotted this one at Zara the other day, I immediately knew that I had to get it. I love how it pairs together with the shirt dress and tights to keep the look more casual, perfect for a gorgeous day out shopping in San Francisco.

Blouse Hollister, Leggings Pacsun, Sandals Kelly & Katie, Turquoise and Caicos Essie Nail Polish

Since junior year of high school started for me a month ago, I've had my hands full in projects, homework and tests. Thank goodness it's Friday and the end of the first grading quarter in the semester because I can now finally sit down and spend time on my blog which (truth be told) I've neglected for far too long. Lately I have been obsessed with wearing polka dots. I picked up this blouse and leggings when I went shopping in Milpitas, CA a couple weeks ago. I love the small and subtle print that makes for a flirty and feminine look. To go along with the natural, relaxed vibe of the look I thought I would try my hand at creating a side braid. I found this look on Pinterest and knew I had to try it. It's almost like the short hair version of the milkmaid braid.

I'm always looking for new crafts to try and one of my favorite sites is Lauren Conrad's new video series "Crafty Creations". Recently she did a DIY Bib Necklace that I fell in love with. Luckily I just so happened to have an old top lying around in my closet that I didn't wear anymore and would perfect for this project, so I thought I'd give it a try! I had so much fun making this and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. This bib necklace is so simple to make and if you are obsessed with this season's collar trend (like I am!), the great thing is you don't have to go out and break the wallet at all. I hope you enjoy this DIY tutorial and if you have any requests for future ones, please leave that in the comments below! :-)
Here's what you'll need:
- An old top with an embellished neckline
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Wire cutters
- Needle nose pliers
- Chain
1. Start by carefully cutting out the detail neckline from the top with a pair of scissors.
2. Wrap the chain along the back of your neck and bring both ends to the front to determine where you want your necklace to hit. Cut off the section you need using wire cutters. Then taking needle nose pliers, bend each end of the chain open. Take the opening and weave it into any part of the crochet/lace, and close it off.
3. But we're not done yet! Depending on how long the chain ismy desired length was too short to just slip over my headcut the chain in half.
4. Measure out 2 pieces of ribbon of equal length. Taking one of the pieces, loop it through an end of the chain and tie it off into a knot. If there are any excess parts, use scissors to trim it off for a clean finish. Repeat for the other side.
5. Your DIY Bib Necklace is now complete! Pair with an outfit for a pretty look!

Have fun accessorizing! xo

H&M Dress, American Apparel Button-Down Shirt, Kelly&Katie Sandals

Hi everyone!
I have been wearing this dress by H&M a lot lately- I can't help it! Its sweet print on an equally flattering sillhouette has made it one of my go-to pieces for the summer. But SF weather can be unpredictable, so I layered a knotted button-down shirt over it, and finished off the look with a gorgeous coral lip stain by Revlon in the color "Rendezvous". Off to do some shopping! :-)

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that lately I've been into staying healthy. One of my favorite ways to stay fit is running. It's nice to take a break from technology every once in a while to enjoy the beautiful outdoors and look great doing so! After all, who says you can't combine fashion + fitness? ;)

Lately I've been inspired by fresh + natural makeup looks for the summertime. A few days ago I was snacking on a bowl of cherries when it dawned on me that they would make the perfect lip stain. I used this simple tutorial I found online. The result is pretty, kissable lips!

1. Pit the cherries.

2. Mash up the cherries using a fork. Throw away the peel/large chunks left over.

3. Apply with finger.

4. Finish it off with a swipe of lip balm or lip gloss for extra shine.

Work it girl! x

I've been really inspired by candy-colored/pastel nails lately. It's so easy to incorporate this trend whether you want all out stripes or just a swipe for a pretty french manicure. Have fun experimenting with different designs because it's a great way to add a pop of personality and color to any outfit. x

Ever since I discovered Kina Grannis's beautiful, soulful music, I've been listening to her songs nonstop. Her sweet tunes coupled with relaxing guitar playing always lift my mood and put a smile on my face. I was so inspired while reading her story about where she got her start and how she got to where she is today. When you listen to her music, it's incredible just how much of herself she puts into her work because it really shines through. One of my favorites in her newest album Stairwells is "World In Front of Me"- you can give a listen to it on here and on her channel here! x

If you give me a bunch of magazines and tell me to read them, especially if they are fashion-related, it can take me days to finish. It may sound kind of strange, but I am the person that will analyze everything down to the last detail when it comes to a well-styled outfit/ page design.

Style Notes sort of came to me on a whim. I thought it'd be fun to share my thought processes, if you will, on some of the genius works I come across and the points I take away from it.

These florals shorts really stand out. It is a perfect summer statement piece when you want to project a casual chic vibe. I love that the rest of the outfit is kept neutral, yet brings out the fun, bright colors.

It was such a beautiful day out in San Francisco today and I knew I had to take these denim shorts out "for a walk". I love them so much that it would be an understatement to say that I am completely smitten with them. I That is why at American Eagle when I laid eyes upon them, I decided right then and there that I wasn't leaving until the store unless they were safely in my hands. Crazy yes, but true ;-)

Something else I'm loving lately is this beautiful gold chain feather necklace. I felt that this outfit was missing a little sparkle and I just love the beautiful contrast between the olive green and gold.

Also, I am so happy to announce that I am almost at 200 followers! To all my old/new readers, thank you so much for reading my blog and leaving your comments! It means so much to me to have your support <3 In celebration of this exciting milestone and the start of summer, I have planned an upcoming jewelry giveaway, stay tuned! x
